Understanding affiliations with churches and associations
In order to get the most out of your organization using The BLESS App, you will need to understand how affiliations between organizations work.
A church can affiliate with any number of associations. This can be used in instances where a church is part of multiple local, countywide, statewide, or even national conventions, movements, or other ministries. An association can affiliate with any number of other associations. By affiliating with an association, you are giving that association access to some of your organization's information. If a church or association affiliates with your association, you will have access to some of their information.
If a Light connects with a church, they give that church access to their information.
If that church connects with an association, they give that association access to their information.
However, in the above example, the Light did not directly give access to the association. Because of this, we anonymize much of the data that an association can see regarding individual Lights. An association will still be able to see the approximate location of the Light on the 'Map' page and B.L.E.S.S. stats, but they will not be able to see the Light's address, name, email address. A Light can opt to share all of this information with any association by directly affiliating with that association on their 'Settings' page.
Connecting with associations already using The Bless App
Whether you are a church or association in our system, you may want to connect your organization with an association. You can do this by following these instructions:
- Start by making sure you are viewing the correct role. Your account may have many roles and you will want to switch to the correct one before proceeding. You can switch between your account's roles by going to the 'Account' tab and clicking the role you would like to view.
- When viewing the role that you are wanting to affiliate with an organization, navigate to your organization's 'Settings' tab.
- Scroll down until you find the 'Affiliation Settings' section.
- Check the box next to any of the associations that you would like to affiliate with. They are listed alphabetically.
- Click the 'Save Changes' button.
If the administrators of the other organization perform the steps above, their information will be shared with you.
Have new churches and associations be automatically connected to your association
Note: The following instructions only apply to associations.
If churches or associations in your association's network have not yet signed up for The BLESS App, we highly recommend using the instructions below to streamline your connection.
- On your association's 'Dashboard', click the 'Promo' tab .
- The first section on the resulting page is labeled 'Onboard Lights'. This section includes a URL that is exclusive to your organization that is designed to help churches sign up under your association.
- The URL will be https://blesseveryhome.com/signup/?onb=XXXXX with the XXXXX being replaced by your organization's ID.
- Someone who signs up using that URL will create their personal account, receive their BLESS list, and be prompted to create their church in our system. The resulting church will be automatically affiliated with
